The Huntsville Half Marathon is the premiere race of this distance in the Tennessee Valley. On Saturday, November 13, 2010, nearly 1500 runners from numerous states will set out on this flat and fast course to realize their dreams of either completing their first half marathon or racing their fastest!

Participant Guide

There are many places to watch the race including the neighboring city streets. We do ask that the parking at the church be reserved for runners as it is very limited. Please see the course map for places to watch the runners.

Age Groups and Awards

Awards will be presented to the first place female and male finishers in Open, Masters and Grandmasters divisions. Overall winners will not be eligible for age group awards.

Participants will compete in the following Male and Female Age Groups: 0-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70-74, 75-79, and 80+.

The first 1000 Half Marathon finishers will receive a race medallion.

Pace Teams

There are no official pace teams for this race. You may have a pacer run with you, but they must be registered to compete in the event.

Shirts

The first 1000 registered Half Marathon participants are guaranteed a long-sleeve technical shirt courtesy of Mizuno. Please register early to ensure a shirt.

Volunteers

It takes a great deal of volunteer support to conduct a race of this magnitude and we need your help. If you are interested in volunteering for this event, please contact Suzanne Taylor, the Race Director.

Timing

Timing will be provided by the Huntsville track Club Timing Services.

Time Limit

There will be a 3 hour 30 minute time limit for this event. Please note that due to traffic control restrictions, the course will be shut down promptly at 11:00 AM and the finish line will remain open until 11:30 AM.

Split Times

There will be split times given at 5 miles, 10 miles, 12 miles and at the finish.

Aid Stations

Fluid stations will be located along the course, including the Start/Finish lines. Aid stations will include water and sports drink. Aid stations will be provided at the 2, 5, 7, 9, and 11 mile locations. A port-o-let will be located on Chaney Thompson Road.

Weather

Weather conditions vary in early November so be prepared for conditions that could be warm and sunny, strong cold winds, or rain.
